TWISTED SISTER Guitarist: We Didn't Re-Record 'Stay Hungry' To Get Back At Anybody
September 22, 2004TWISTED SISTER guitarist Jay Jay French has spoken to Wisconsin-Music.com about the group's decision to re-record their classic "Stay Hungry" album for re-release under the new title "Still Hungry". Asked about producer Tom Werman's remarks regarding the group's reasons for re-recording the album, French replied, "There's no point in continuing on with this. There's so much we could say about Werman. Basically, we fired a firecracker, he fired a hand grenade. If I decide to shoot a howitzer, it doesn't do anybody any good. Let's just say this: We didn't re-record it to get back at anybody. We re-recorded the record because we thought it was a fun thing to do. And it just redressed some history. There's nothing wrong with the first record, it sold huge amounts, and it was the right record at the right time. But our fans have always felt that all of our records were never truly representative of the band’s sound. We're much heavier than our records were. So this was an opportunity to heavy up the record. You could do it to all of the records, for that matter." Read the rest of the interview at this location.
As previously reported, Eagle Rock Entertainment has pushed back the release date of "Still Hungry" to October 19.
Six of the seven bonus tracks on the CD previously appeared, mostly in raw form, on archival TWISTED SISTER albums. Demos of "Come Back" and "Rock N Roll Saviors" were included on the 1999 Spitfire Records collection "Club Daze Volume I: The Studio Sessions". The completed 2001 studio recordings of "Never Say Never" and "Blastin' Fast & Loud" (with Pero's original 1984 drum tracks) kick off 2001's Spitfire release "Club Daze Volume II: Live in the Bars", which also features vintage live versions of "You Know I Cry", "Plastic Money" and "Come Back" (one of just a few songs to appear on both "Club Daze" volumes).
